A primary objective was to encourage the development of the entire Berlin inner city in ways that would be attractive in urban design terms as well as being economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable … a stated goal of the Planwerk Innenstadt is to illustrate and encourage a city for the twenty-first century … guiding concepts are in such areas as mobility, density, sustainability, urbanity and identity.
