I was too weak to walk upstairs. I missed holding my baby, but was thankful I could still watch his development from across the room. I was especially thankful to God for giving me a husband and parents who would do anything, within their ability, to support and care for me. I was blessed with a precious baby boy and a team of prayer warriors made up of my closest friends and family. I was sending them daily private messages with specific prayer requests, so they knew details about the trial I was enduring.
I was fortunate to nanny for a family that was very flexible and understanding because of my pregnancy. The mom, Catherine, is a doctor and therefore also had a greater appreciation of the situation from a health perspective. She balanced my schedule and work load so that I could ideally watch the kids up until my due date. As we all know, plans are subject to change. At my 30 week appointment, my obstetrician found that I had already dilated to two centimeters. This was concerning because if I started to have contractions, I was well on my way to a delivery.
They were still manageable when my doctor asked me if she could break my water to get the process rolling.
