DEVELOPMENTAL ARENAS Individual developmental trajectories for LGBT people are enacted within a broad array of arenas in which reference-group membership (whether acknowledged and embraced or not) presents a shared, unique set of tasks that need to be negotiated for optimal development to proceed; because these issues are specific to each group, they create between-group differences. Here we offer brief examples of issues unique to each group in the personal arena of health, the interpersonal arena of relationships and families, the social arena of education and work, and the sociopolitical arena of legal issues.
